Wedding Story

The 'Wow'ness of weddings was first realized
when so many functions were witnessed by the eyes
so many emotions as the colorful saris
and the endless khaatirdari of the Baaratis'
travelling by train to our destination farr
listening to 'Banni suhaag maangan gayi hai dekho babaji ke dwaar'
practicing so many days for the Sangeet 
multiple remixes to make it up beat
crazy weekends of endless shopping
perfect matching from jhumki to leggings
personalized name tags for our luggage
the difficult task is choosing a hotel mate
party till late night and wake up early
no time for conditioning hair soo curly
breakfast, lunch, dinner is all Mithai
and naagin dance before the Shehnai
changing attires from Sagai to Vidaai
it's so incomplete without some ladaai
dancing to the DJ till 4 am
and not having dinner before 11 pm
from decorating the stage
to preparing a peg for the entire brigade
the warmth of sitting around the Pheras
to the bride's parting rona
the glory of the 3 big days
create memories to be cherished always.

Enclosed in four walls
I miss my toys and dolls

Trying to find my way out
Wishing someone heard my silent shout
Suffocating in my cage
Eyes burning with rage
Unanswered doubts 
I feel like a clout
All around me are enjoying 
It's life and they are living
I sit here thinking to myself 
Is this really me or someone else 
The life I had
So carefree and glad
